A joint training workshop of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization and Market Research Association
National Export Strategy and Trade Information Sector
Since 2013, with the assistance of the International Trade Center, the National Export Strategy (NES) was drafted and being implemented in Myanmar. The Trade Information sector also plays an important role in realizing the NES.
One of the strategic objectives of the NES is the improvement of the quality of trade information and its ability to be obtained in a timely manner. For trade businesses and international buyers, it is hope that better analysis of market information can be gathered as part of the NES’ operational objectives.
Concerned government ministries are collaborating with the private sector to train and develop capable employees who can conduct thorough analysis of trade information and data, in order to make the national economy/ markets/ trade competitiveness with others. However, in the current fiscal year, there is no TOT training. There was a plan to conduct supervision of export market reports on potential products and hold a training workshop.
Objectives of the training workshops
- Speedy delivery of trade information to exporters
- Enabling Myantrade and its employees to prepare reports, conduct workshops and discussions, and other activities.
Myantrade had chosen the topic of “Coffee and Cotton” and presented an initial report of the current situation of the coffee and cotton market. MRA executive such as Secretary Daw Mi May Phyu Phyu Sin, Joint Secretaries U Phyo Kyaw Thu and Daw Thi Thi Aung provided guidance and filled in any apparent gaps in the market reports. Together with draft reports, PowerPoint Presentations were also prepared and trained for presentation.
The half-day training workshop was held at UMFCCI on January 31, 2025. Myantrade Director U Htun Naing delivered the opening remarks. MRA Chairman U Aung Min provided guiding remarks on the plan of supervising market reports and the training workshop.
Next, key findings of the coffee and cotton market reports were presented by the trainees. Participants in the discussion included attendees from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry, Myanmar Coffee Association, and Myanmar Cotton and Cotton Products Merchant Association.
Finalizing reports and results
Using the insights and feedback from the discussions, the draft reports will be improved and finalized. Finally, it will be published and available on the Myantrade website.
This collaboration between Myantrade and the MRA will provide complete and useful information and analysis for exporters and players in the coffee and cotton industries. In addition, Myantrade will endeavor to provide similar reports for other industries as well.
